BREAKING & ENTERING

There’s been buzz around Rye Rye for the past few years, but this is the first song she’s released that sounds like a legitimate hit. The song features Robyn reinterpreting the chorus to her 2005 single, and one of my personal favorites, “Be Mine!” Robyn once again shows off her ability to create some of the catchiest pop hooks on “Never Will Be Mine.” While I’m not all that impressed with Rye Rye’s verses or flow (I’ll take Nicki over her any day), I hope this song is a hit for Robyn’s sake. Robyn hasn’t had a mainstream hit in the US since the late 90s, despite her international success. However, her fan base and buzz has been steadily building, and she continues to churn out impressive pop songs. Check out “Dancing On My Own” and “Call Your Girlfriend” for two Robyn songs that should have been hits.
